The Last Thing!

Well, I have completed the program and learned 23 new things! Actually, I have learned a lot more than that because anything computer related is a challenge for me.
Thanks to the people who put this program together! It was a great opportunity to learn different ways of connecting with people and creating documents and files that can be accessed by many. I learned how to play around with photos! That was something that I had never done before.
This was also an my introduction to blogging. I'm not sure that I will be a faithful blogger in the future. There doesn't seem to be enough time in the day, but I am grateful for the chance to try it. Now I feel like I'm caught up to the most current online/social media options!
The GIS portion was a lot of fun and I think I will have fun with mapping and geographical data in the future.
It's been a good 13 weeks!

Social Networking, Widgets and Gadgets, GIS

The last few weeks have been a whirlwind but somehow it all gets done!
I am familiar with Facebook so that was nothing new, but I had never heard of Diigo before. Diigo would have been extremely helpful when I was studying and needed to save various articles and websites for my research.
The Widget application was simple and nothing essential that I would use terribly often.
The GIS/mapping is intersting. I would be interested to learn more about the various kinds of maps and information that can be obtained. I would be interested in various population stats, disease spread, socioeconomic mapping, etc.
It has been an informative few weeks!

Flickr!

I chose a picture of the entrance to the courtyard of the Wartburg Castle in Germany. I have been there twice before and it is one of my favorite places to visit. The Wartburg is the castle where Martin Luther hid for ten months and during that time translated the Bible into German. It is a beautiful castle built in the side of a mountain in the district of Saxony.

Wiki #2

I really liked the simplicity of it and I think it could easily become a "habit" to use it. The only issue would be to remember to check it for updates. Do we get emails when an update is made to a Wiki we are contributing to? I assume so!

Wikis

I think working with Wikis could be totally awesome! It's simply, straighforward, and user friendly.
I will quite possibly use a Wiki next time I am involoved in a group process where we need access to reading and editing a document.
This one was fun!

You Tube!

I chose the Rick Mercer Report at the University of Saskatchewan.
The spot where they are racing the cars is right in front of the Lutheran Serminary...sadly you can't see, but I am standing inside of the front doors of the Seminary watching. We stopped our Old Testament Theology class to watch!
